DHAKA: Miscreants on Wednesday evening set fire to two passenger buses in Signboard and Nilkhet areas of the capital and blasted four cocktails in Purana Paltan and Badda areas ahead of the daylong countrywide hartal on Thursday.
Sources said a bus was torched in Signboard area around 6:30pm and another passenger bus in Nilkhet area at 6:00pm on the day.
Fire Service and Civil Defense duty officer Nazma Akhter, confirmed the matter.
However, no casualty was reported in the incidents.
On the other hand, four cocktails were blasted in Purana Paltan and Badda areas in the evening.
Sources said that three cocktails were blasted at Purana Paltan intersection and one in Badda.
Two persons were reportedly injured in the blasts.
Among them, Andu Miah, a Freedom Fighter, was injured in the Purana Paltan blast when returning home from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital by a rickshaw.
An unidentified man, moreover, sustained cocktail injuries in Badda area.
However, BNP called a daylong countrywide hartal for Thursday protesting attack on Reaz Rahman, an adviser to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and also former state minister for foreign affairs.
