One killed in AL factional clash in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH: One person was killed and 30 others were wounded in a factional fight of the ruling Awami League’s local unit at Achintapur in Shailakupa upazila of the district on Tuesday morning following rivalry for respective supremacy over the village.

 The victim, Rusdar Ali, was a member of Nasir Khan group.

The wounded persons were getting treatment at Shailakupa, Kushtia and Jhenidah hospitals.

Dr. Abdul Khaleque in the Shailakupa hospital stated condition of one of the wounded, Malek Fakir, as “critical”.

Officer-in-charge of Shailakupa thana Anwar Hossain said the clash between the groups of Panna Khan and Nasir Khan erupted centering establishment of domination over the village.

“Both the groups used lethal weapons. Rusdar Ali was hit with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot,” says a spot account of the clash.

The body was lying on the side of a mosque. No case was filed yet.

Ten people were killed in different upazilas of the district during the last 19 months centering Union Parishad election.
