Bail petition of Mirza Abbas rejected

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Monday rejected the bail appeal of BNP standing committee member and ex-minister Mirza Abbas in two cases.

The two cases were filed with Motijheel and Paltan police stations against him on charges of obstructing police duties, and torching and vandalising vehicles during the June 27 hartal.
Acting Metropolitan Session judge Ismail Hossain passed the order in response to Mirza’s petition.

Earlier on August 3, he was taken on eight-day remand in the twin-cases.

Mirza’s lawyer Jainul Abedin Mezbah told banglanews24.com.bd that police picked up his client during hartal hours on June 27 “unnecessarily”.
