Court defers hearing on KokoÔÇÖs tax-dodging case

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Wednesday extended the time for hearing on the tax-evasion case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.

Acting Judge of Senior Special Judge Court Ismail Hossain issued the order deferring the date to October 6 after Koko’s lawyer sought more time to submit report on an the order of his release on parole

Koko’s lawyer Taherul Islam told banglanews24.com.bd, “Koko is now abroad for treatment as per the executive order of the government. A plea has been submitted to the Home Ministry for extending Koko’s parole.”
 
Deputy Tax Commissioner of the National Board of Revenue Shahin Akhter Hossain lodged the tax-dodging case against Koko on March 1 with Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court.
