12 JCD activists held in Savar, BCL claims them its activists

SAVAR: Police on Wednesday held 12 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists from a press conference here.

Police also seized a good number of sticks from the conference venue.

Police said, Ashulia thana unit JCD and Savar University College unit committee arranged the press conference against their counterpart at a community center in Parbatinagor municipality area.
 
In a sudden drive, police swooped and held 12 of the activists while some other workers managed to escape.

Savar thana OC Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews24.com.bd that they conducted the drive on information that a clash may erupt between the political activists.

Savar municipality unit JCD‘s convener Asaduzzaman Titu condemned the incident and demanded release of their activists.

The JCD activists were protesting declaration of committee by the Central Committee.

Savar thana SI Kaoser said they held twelve people including Asaduzzaman, Abdur Rahim, Rasel, Jewel, Sobhan, Ershad, Mahfuz, Faruq, Sentu and Patik.

Meanwhile, former president of Dhaka district unit Chhatra League Manjurul Alam Rajib claimed that most of the arrested were activists of the ruling party’s student wing.

Police held their activists for creating panic, he alleged.

Savar thana OC, however, refused the allegation.
