DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) should thank Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the on-going drive against corruption and irregularities.

Obaidul Quader said: “Tender manipulation and extortion were initiated by BNP, but it did not take any action against its party men. However, AL started the corrective drive from its own house. That’s why BNP should thank the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, told journalists at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet on Thursday (September 26).

The minister went to Sylhet to join a condolence meeting for former Sylhet District Awami League president ANM Shafiqur Rahman.

He was greeted by District Awami League president Advocate Lutfur Rahman, general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, organizing secretary Advocate Misbah Uddin Siraj, central member Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and others at the airport.
