CHATTOGRAM: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said the state cannot compromise with corruption.
“Khaleda Zia is imprisoned on charge of corruption. Since the state is for the case, therefore, state’s duty is to oppose her bail. If state resisted from opposition, then it would be compromise with corruption,” he told reporters after attending a seminar in Chattogram’s Finley Square Cineplex on Saturday (October 5).
Silver Screen organized the seminar titled ‘Film Industry of Bangladesh and Challenges of Globalization’ with poet and senior journalist Abul Momen in the chair.
He said BNP chief embezzled the money of orphans and the court convicted her as per the documents. Only the court can release her.
Criticizing BNP leaders, he said they sometimes talk about Khaleda Zia’s release through judicial procedure, at times, through movement. I think they are doing politics on Khaleda Zia’s release, because her release is not the main concern.
