DHAKA: Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridge minister Obaidul Quader has said that the law enforcers have been directed to arrest those who were involved in beating the BUET student to death.
He said this in reply to questions of reporters during the press briefing on contemporary issues at the Secretariat on Monday (October 7).
Obaidul Quader said, "I have heard it. I had a talk with IG of the police a while back. I told him that you could talk to the Prime Minister about the matter too’.
"As far as I understand, none has the right to kill a person for dissent," he said. Therefore, the law here will take action at its own pace. Investigations are underway, the minister said,
“I have asked law enforcers to take legal action against those who will be found guilty in the investigation. Whatever the culprit, the law will continue at its own pace”.
Obaidul Quader said that they who did it from any emotions or excitement must find out. Of course, the investigation is going on.
The body of Abrar Fahad, a second year student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) in BUET, was found lying between first and second floor of Sher-e-Bangla Hall early on Monday (October 7).
He is alleged to have been beaten to death after being called from the room.
