Fahad’s killers should face death penalty: Quader Obaidul Quader speaking to reporters

DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister  Obaidul Quader said killers of BUET student Abrar Fahad should be given death penalty.

He voiced his opinion while talking to reporters on contemporary issues at his office at the secretariat on Tuesday (October 15).

Obaidul Quader said: “In my opinion, those who are involved in Fahad murder should be death penalty today or tomorrow. I do not know what the court will do. Death penalty means a few brilliant sons, some talented children are gone. The country suffers loss. Not just for Fahad, for those who committed this wrong.  They are talented students too.”

Asked about what action will be taken against those made them terrorists or incited, he said Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) is not involved in this incident to that extent. How bad such type of killing is, the government is worried.  It happened under ruling party’s student banner.  Central BCL should not be involved in the decision (ban politics) in this connection. Those who committed this occurrence should be punished on a case-to-case basis.   I can’t blame the whole party for fault of a few (people). The government is in power, we have liability. Such an occurrence tarnishes image of the government and the party as well.  We’re taking prompt action under moral obligation.
