DHAKA: Prime Minister and also Awami League president Sheikh Hasina is holding meeting with Awami Jubo League leaders at Ganabhaban on Sunday (Oct 20) afternoon over upcoming council of the youth front of AL.
The meeting started at the Prime Minister's official residence at 5 pm.
Sources say the meeting will decide who will chair the upcoming Jubo League Council. Because, according to the constitution, the chairman of the Jubo League Omar Faruk Chowdhury is expected to be chaired, but he is not being allowed because of corruption allegations.
In addition, what will be the age limit for Jubo League leaders, who will come to the Jubo League committee at the council will also be decided in this meeting.
The age structure of the leaders will be fixed at any one between 45 and 55. At the same time, a convening committee will be formed for preparation ahead of the council.
Presidium members of the organization, general secretary, joint general secretary and organizational secretaries were present at the meeting of the Prime Minister. But, Chairman of the Jubo League Omar Farooq Chowdhury, Presidium Member Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon MP, Sheikh Fazlur Rahman Maruf and Sheikh Atiar Rahman Dipu were not invited in the meeting.
Party insiders said that they were dropped from the meeting because of allegations of involvement in various types of corruption and irregularities.
However, Sheikh Fazlur Rahman Maruf went to the Ganabhaban to attend the meeting but was not allowed to enter.
The Awami League President and also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will guide the youth leaders on the overall issues.
