Writ seeks release of 6 protest coordinators, no firing on students

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) seeking a directive for the law enforcers not to fire on the quota reform protesters during their demonstrations.

It also sought the release of six quota reform leaders currently under the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) of police and the relatives of students who have been detained or arrested recently.

On Monday morning, Supreme Court Lawyers Aynunnahar Siddiqua and Manjur Al Matin filed this application in the relevant bench of the HC.

The HC bench composed of Justice Mohammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar and Justice Md Moniruzzaman is supposed to hear the petition this afternoon.

It is known that the application will be heard in another bench if the relevant bench does not want to hear the case.
