An elderly man was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Dashani Beribadh area under Matlab Uttar upazila of Chandpur district on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Borhan Uddin, 70, of Mohanpur village in the same upazila.

Rabiul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Matlab Uttar Police Station, confirmed the matter.

The accident occurred around 10:30 pm when a speeding motorcycle lost control and hit Borhan Uddin, leaving four people injured, he said.

The injured were taken to Matlab Uttar Upazila Health Complex, where Borhan Uddin succumbed to his injuries.

Among the injured, the motorcycle rider, Ishan, 19, was later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
