Gayeshwar Chandra Roy resigns from BNP Standing Committee

DHAKA: BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has resigned from the party`s standing committee, party sources said, without elaborating on the reasons for his sudden decision to stand down from the policymaking body.

The sources said he sent the resignation letter to party chairperson
Begum Khaleda Zia on Monday night.

Senior Correspondent of banglanews24.com.bd Mannan Maruf said Roy sent his resignation letter to Begum Zia by a hand messenger at around 9pm.

When contacted over phone at midnight, Roy said, "I have been involved with party`s politics for long. I do not want to talk about it now."

Private satellite television channels, including Boishakhi TV and RTV, also broadcast the news of his tendering resignation.

Another party-insider told banglanews24.com.bd that Roy was not happy about the Dhaka district committee of the party.
