JESSORE: Police recovered body of an Awami League (AL) activist from Talshari area of Jhikargachha upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Humayun Kabir, 40, son of Abdul Aziz in Kundipur village of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Rashid of Jhikargachha Thana confirmed the matter.

Besides, police detained a man, babul, on suspicion of his involvement in the murder.

The law enforcers said they recovered the body in the morning and later, deceased’s family member indentified as Humayun.

Later, the body was handed over to the family at noon after autopsy.

A case will be file in this regard by Humayan’s family member. 

Victim’s family and locals said there was a longstanding dispute between Humayun and Babul.

Police said Humayan might be killed over previous enmity.

Earlier on Thursday Humayun went out to the local Panchpota Bazar around 8:30pm, did not return home.
