DHAKA: At least 335 people, including a mentionable number of leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, were detained from the city and 12 different districts of the country.
They were nabbed from the capital and Brahmanbaria, Jessore, Satkhira, Khulna, Habiganj, Barisal, Sirajganj, Manikganj, Noakhali, Chittagong, Chandpur, and Meherpur during the drives conducted from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

Police detained 104 people, including 12 BNP leaders and activists, in Brahmanbaria; 56 people, mostly BNP-Jamaat supporters, from Jessore; 38 people, including 13 BNP-Jamaat activities, from Satkhira; 38, including 5 BNP-Jamaat men, from Khulna, and 32 others from Habiganj district.
Brahmanbaria additional superintendent of police M Zahidul Islam, Jessore police spokesperson assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Reshma Sharmin, Satkhira district police information officer Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson additional police commissioner Moniruzzaman Mithu, and Habiganj Sadar uapzila ASP Masudur Rahman Monir separately confirmed the detention to banglanews.
Moreover, police also held Barisal district Jamaat unit ameer (chief) and 5 people in Sirajganj, 6 BNP men in Manikganj, 9 people in the capital city, 9 BNP-Jamaat activists in Noakhali, 10 BNP-Jamaat men in Chittagong, 13 BNP-Jamaat men in Chandpur and 14 others in Meherpur.
Senior police officers of the respective districts confirmed the matters to banglanews.
