8 trucks vandalized in Dinajpur, 5 hurt

DINAJPUR:  Five people were injured when hartal supporters vandalized eight trucks at Kanchan Bridge, on outskirts of the district town, Wednesday morning.

General people caught one anarchist Tafail Hossain, 25, and handed him over to police.

Locals said eight trucks, on arrival at Kanchan Bridge from district town around 8:30am, came under attack by pickets that left five workers injured.

The injured were admitted to Dinajpur medical College Hospital.

During the attack on trucks, locals chased the anarchists and caught one of them. Others, however, managed to flee the spot.

Kotwali thana officer-in-charge Khalekuzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The hartal that extended by BNP-led 20-party alliance is underway across the country on Wednesday amid stray incidents of violence.

On Tuesday, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, through a press statement, announced that the alliance-enforced hartal was extended till Thursday evening protesting the mass killing by joint forces, indiscriminate murder, kidnaps, attacks and mass arrest of 20-party alliance men.
