DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on a five-day fresh remand in an arson attack case with Jatrabari Thana in the city.
Judge Emdadul Haque of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the remand order after completion of his three-day remand in an attempt to murder case filed with Badda Thana.
Earlier, Jatrabari Thana Sub-Inspector M Zahidul Islam, also IO of the case filed for burning 29 passengers by blasting a petrol bomb in a bus, produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was also made a defendant of the case for instigating violence.
On the night of January 30, RAB-1 personnel arrested Rizvi from Baridhara area in city and handed over to Badda Thana police on January 31.
Later, he was taken to the Headquarters of Detective Branch (DB) police.
On February 1, Rizvi was produced before the court where he was placed on a three-day remand.
