DHAKA: Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan announced that all drivers will blow their vehicle horns on Thursday noon protesting the countrywide violence amid blockade enforced by BNP.
The minister made the announcement at a press conference in National Press Club Conference room in city on Wednesday.
Shahjahan said people from all walks of life will take stand-position together from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm on Thursday protesting BNP-Jamaat’s countrywide violence.
Moreover, horns of all vehicles will be blown at 1:01pm in protest of violence, he added.
The minister said BNP-led 20-party alliance has been continuing a war against independence, sovereignty and democracy of the country for a month. People including the professionals should encounter it.
After the conference, the minister joined a human chain in front of the press club.
He urged the professionals to participate in the protest program.
Acknowledging the government action of disconnecting power supply in BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, Shahjahan said power connection was cut off for the ongoing sabotage and petrol bomb attacks in the name of demonstration.
But, the connection has been restored due to generosity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.
However, Khaleda sent his granddaughters to Malaysia to sit for examination. But, she did not think about the future of 15 lakh SSC examinees in the country.
Agenda of greater protest movement will be announced from a convention of ‘Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi O Muktijoddha Samanya Parishad’ at BMA Auditorium in the city at 3:00pm on February 7, the minister added.
