DHAKA: A three-year old child, who sustained burn injuries in a bomb explosion amid hartal and blockade called by BNP-led 20-party alliance, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in the city.

The injured, Jui Moni, is a daughter of Joj Miah and Hafia Akhter, hailed from Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar area.

Sources told banglanews that the child was injured on Monday in the area while playing at her uncle’s home-yard.

The child’s grandmother Helena Begum said that she took Jui along with her while going to another son’s home adjacent to the residence of Jui’s family.

“She was injured when a bomb was blasted from a procession,” she added. “The blast left Jui burnt.”

Later, the child was brought to DMCH, she added.

The hospital’s burn unit doctor Professor Sazzad Khandakar said that Jui received six percent burn injuries of her body.
