DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of declaring state of emergency in the country due to ongoing violences by alleged pro-blockaders and hartal supporters.
The premier was addressing the parliament in response to a supplementary question from a lawmaker at the parliament.
She also denounced any possibility of enacting new law with the view to drive away violence from the country.
She said, “Why is emergency needed? There is law enforcing agency in the country. We have taken steps to drive away violence. With the held of people we will quell the situation.”
The premier further said none has been able to create any such situation in the country that emergency will have to be declared.
Sheikh Hasina also informed the House that the law enforcing agencies are working to contain the present destructive activities of the BNP-Jamaat alliance.
He also told the House: “We have enjoined to find out the names of suppliers of petrol, bottles, crude bombs and the names of financers.”
She also forewarned that actions would be taken against all the involved persons including those involved with instigating violence.
