DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday granted five-day remand to two former lawmakers--Ashraf Uddin Mizan and Nazim Uddin Ahmed--of BNP in a case of attempt to murder of police sergeant Tanmay Sikder filed with Paltan thana in city.
Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque passed the order at noon when the Detective Branch (DB) of police Inspector Dewan Uzzal Hossain produced before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
On January 5, 20-party leaders and activists intercepted police sergeant Tanmay Sikder and assaulted him physically, set fire to his motorbike and blasted cocktails to kill him.
On the next day, a case was filed with Paltan Thana of the city in this regard.
On February 4, a group of DB police detained Ashraf Uddin Mizan and Nazim Uddin Ahmed while they were returning after meeting Quader Siddique at Motijheel in the city and shown arrest in the attempt to murder case.
