DHAKA: Members of the parliamentary standing committee on law, justice and parliamentary affairs told European Union (EU) ambassador to Bangladesh that dialogue between the two parties is possible, if only BNP leaves the violent activities.
They made the comment Thursday night at the dinner arranged by EU envoy Pierre Mayaudon at his Dhaka residence, sources told banglanews.
Committee members, according to the sources, Anisul Huq, minister of law, justice and parliamentary affairs and Abdul Matin Khasru, former law minister, M Tajul Islam Chowdhury, opposition chief whip of the national parliament, M Shamsul Haque Tuku, former state minister for home affairs, along with the committee chairman Suranjit Sengupta attended the program.
The standing committee members, however, also discussed Foreign Donations Regulation Act, sources added.
Committee member Abdul Matin Khasru, after the meeting, said that they have told Pierre Mayaudon that the dialogue is possible if only Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaves the path of violence.
The party, according to Khasru, will also have to explain the reasons of subversive activities in the name of hartal, blockade.
