DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives detained 16 leaders-activists BNP and Chhatra Shibir from different areas of the capital between Thursday morning and Friday morning.

DMP sources said as part of ongoing drives to prevent sabotage during the BNP led 20-party alliance protest program, police detained 12 leaders-activists of BNP and four activists of Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called the non-stop blockade on January 5 as she failed to come out of her office, due to police obstruction, to attend a party program marking the first anniversary of the last general elections as ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
