RAJSHAHI: Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, has called a 48-hour hartal from Sunday morning in the division.

Rajshahi Metropolitan’s Publicity Secretary of Shibir Asaduzzaman made the disclosure through a press release around 11:30am on Friday.

The press release said that the hartal will be enforced from 6:00am Sunday and continue to 6:00am Tuesday in egight district of  the division on protesting the killing of information and technology affairs secretary of Rajshahi University unit Chhatra Shibir.

Apart from this, a protest movement will be observed in the district on Saturday.

Earlier, a leader of Rajshahi University unit Chhatra Shibir was killed in a clash with police in Shamsadpur area of the city early Friday.

Two more Shibir leaders received bullet shot and a policeman also injured during the clash held around 1:00am.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahabuddin, information and technology affairs secretary of RU unit Shibir and student of department of Crop Science and Technology.
