DHAKA: Law enforcers detained at least 267 people, including BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists, from 14 districts in nightlong drives.
Without disclosing the identities police claimed that the detainees were involved in recent violence.

DHAKA: Metropolitan Police held 12 till this morning.
Nine among the detainees are BNP activists while three are from its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, said sources.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media center deputy police commissioner Masudur Rahman said that they will continue their operations to keep law and order situation normal.
MANIKGANJ: Police from different areas of Manikganj detained six BNP-Jamaat men early Wednesday.
The detainees include district Jamaat secretary and five BNP activists.
KHULNA: At least 30 persons were arrested here on Wednesday.
Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) special branch (SB) additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Maniruzzaman Mithu, confirming the arrest, said that all the detainees were fugitive in different cases.
However, two BNP men along with a Jamaat activist are also in the list.
SATKHIRA: Four persons, including two Jamaat men were detained from Tala upazila of the district early Wednesday.
Tala Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Islam confirmed the matter.
NARAIL: Police detained 27 miscreants on Wednesday from different areas of the district.
There are two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of BNP and one Jamaat activist, sources told banglanews.
JESSORE: At least 31 persons were held in Jessore.
The list includes two BNP and one Jamaat activists.
GAIBANDHA: Joint forces nabbed at least 23 BNP-Jamaat men from different upazilas of the district.
Additional police super (ASP) Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the detention.
PABNA: Law enforcers held 43 persons on suspicion of vandalizing two trucks and torching one early Wednesday.
Pabna assistant police super (ASP), Siddiqur Rahman confirmed the arrest.
He said that earlier Jamaat-Shibir activists vandalized two vehicles in front of Pabna University of Science and Technology.
“Moreover, they also torched another truck at Pabna-Ishwardi road,” he added.
NOAKHALI: Police held nine BNP-Jamaat activists from different upazilas of the district on Wednesday.
SIRAJGANJ: Law enforcers detained eight BNP-Jamaat men following the blast of a cocktail in the district town.
The list, however, includes local units of Jamaat and Jubo Dal leaders and their family members.
PANCHAGARH: Three Jamaat-men along with Tetulia upazila unit Ameer were detained on early Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, police detained the trio while they were planning of violence, claimed the force members.
RAJSHAHI: Police detained a person following the blast of four cocktails on University of Rajshahi (RU) campus.
According to the sources, the detainee Shamim used to sell teas on campus.
On the other hand, Matihar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said that miscreants are still trying to create anarchy on the campus.
However, police is also on alert situation, he added.
GAZIPUR: At least 24 persons were held in the district early Wednesday.
Police, however, also recovered seven cocktails from them.
District police special branch (SB) inspector Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter.
RANGPUR: Police detained 46 people here on Wednesday.
The list includes seven Jamaat men along with three BNP activists, said sources. The rest, however, was involved in different crimes, including drug peddling.
