DHAKA : Police, in nightlong drives, detained 21 leaders-activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from different areas of the capital for their alleged involvement in sabotages and planning to conduct subversive acts.

Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media center) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), on Wednesday morning, informed the media that among the 21 detainees, some are directly involved in sabotages while some are instigators or planners of sabotages carried out during hartal-blockade.

Necessary legal actions would be taken against the detainees ---13 men of Jamaat-Shibir and eight men of BNP, he added.
