DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna in sedition case.

Bikash Kumar Saha of Dhaka Chief Magistrate Court (CMM) passed the order after the hearing of the plea filed by Manna’s lawyer Abdul Mannan Khan.

Earlier, the lawyer appealed to cancel the remand of Manna as he has been admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following a cardiac attack.

However, General Record Officer (GRO) of the court and also sub-inspector (SI) Fariduddin Ahmed stood against the plea.

Earlier on March 11, investigation officer of Manna sedition case and also Gulshan Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Firoz Kabir informed the court that Manna felt chest pain during remand and got admitted to DMCH. They will produce him before the court after his cure.

On March 7, Magistrate Ataul Haque granted a 10-day remand of Manna on sedition case.
