DHAKA: The leaders of the Jatiya Oikyafront front held meeting with some diplomats from different countries stationed in Dhaka, including the US ambassador.
They met at the house of BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan at Gulshan in the capital at 10:15am on Wednesday (September 7) which ended around 12 noon.
The BNP or Jatiya Oikyafront did not formally inform the media about the meeting.
According to sources, the president of the Gano Forum and the top leader of the National Unity Front Dr Kamal Hossain and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir entered the house of Moyeen Khan at 10:15am on Wednesday.
US Ambassador to Dhaka Robert Earl Miller, British High Commissioner to Dhaka, Deputy Ambassador to Canada and Resident Representative of United Nations joined the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Jatiya Oikyafront leaders ASM Abdur Rab, Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Besides, Subrata Chowdhury, executive president of Ganaforam was also present at the meeting.
Asked about the meeting, a leader of the BNP wishing anonymity, told Banglanews, "The ongoing political situation of the country, including the release of BNP Chief Khaleda Zia, have been discussed in the meeting."
