DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman (faction) GM Quader convened a joint meeting of party presidium and parliamentarians on Friday (September 6) afternoon.

The meeting will be held at the Banani office of the founding chairman of JaPa, Hussein Muhammad Ershad, at 5pm, party sources confirmed. 

GM Quader will preside over the meeting.

Prior to that, the Parliamentary Board of JaPa will interview the nominees for the Rangpur-3 constituency by-election at the same place at 4 pm.

Earlier on Thursday (Sep 5), loyalists of Raushon Ershad declared her party chairman at a press briefing  in the presence of Raushon at her residence.

"Raushon Ershad will perform the duties of party chairman. A council will called within six months to make a permanent appointment to the post through the democratic process,” Anisul Islam Mahmud, a member of Jatiya Party's presidium, said.

Later on the day, Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader has threatened to take appropriate measures after a faction of the party declared Raushon as its chairman.
