DHAKA: Jatiya Party nominated Shad Ershad, son of its late chairman HM Ershad, for Rangpur-3 by-election, slated for October 5.
Party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga told reporters after the meeting on Sunday (September 8).
Ranga said GM Quader will be deputy leader of the opposition in the parliament.
By-election to Rangpur-s seat that vacated after the death of Jatiya Party chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad will be held on October 5.
District Awami League general secretary Rezaul Karim Raju has been nominated by his party for the by-election.
The Rangpur-3 constituency consists of Sadar Upazila and wards no 9 to 33 of the Rangpur City Corporation, apart from the number 1 to 8.
According to EC, the total number of voters in this constituency is 4 lakh 42 thousand 72 people. Of those, 2 lakh 21 thousand 310 are male voters while 2 lakh 20 thousand 762 female voters.
