DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's sister Selima Islam has alleged that the medical report and reality do not match up.
She came up with the remarks after visiting Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital on Monday evening (December 16).
Selima Islam said: “Khaleda Zia is very sick. She has got pain in her lower abdomen. She can't walk, eat properly. The doctor is not giving medicine properly. She is not being treated properly. How would she live here?”
She also said: “Her (Khaleda Zia) diabetes is not coming under control. Diabetes’s sugar has never been below 12. It's always between 14 and 15. Today, it stands at 14.”
Asked if she had said anything about release through parole, Khaleda Zia's sister said: “There were no words on the matter. They didn't grant her bail. Khaleda Zia could have been given bail considering her physical condition. Bail does not mean release. Khaleda Zia termed it (her bail denial) unprecedented. She sought blessings from the countrymen.”
Five persons entered BSMMU at around 3 pm to meet Khaleda Zia. They came back at around 4:30 pm.
