NARAYANGANJ: Police have arrested seven leaders and activists of BNP including its Narayanganj district unit general secretary Mamun Mahmud and general secretary of Metropolitan BNP ATM Kamal.

Besides, a case was filed against 300 leaders and activists, of them 19 are identified ones, with the police station.

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Sub Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam filed the case under Special Powers Act on Monday (December 16).

The seven persons were detained in raids conducted on Tuesday (December 17).

Inspector of the Special Branch of the District Police (DIO-2), Shafiul Azam told Banglanews: “The case was filed on charges of attempted anarchy and attacks on police. Seven people have been arrested in the incident.”
