DINAJPUR: A team of police detained 83 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami while they were holding a secret meeting on the pretext of picnic in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur.

On secret information, the raid was conducted at ‘Shopnopuri Artificial Amusement Park’ on Thursday (December 19).

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nawabganj Police Station Ashok Kumar Chauhan said: “We were still at Shopnopuri. The detainees will be prosecuted.”

Police sources said some jihadi books, leaflets were seized from them.

Among the detainees, there were 83 ‘Rukhon’ members of Joypurhat, Rangpur, Dinajpur district and upazila.
