DHAKA: The hartal, enforced by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) -led 20-party alliance, has entered the fourth day across the country on Wednesday, supplemented by nationwide road-rail-waterway blockade.
No acts of sabotages and arson attacks have yet been reported in the city and elsewhere of the country till 6:00am on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the alliance has extended the ongoing spell of 72-hour shutdown to 120-hour, pressing home their demands. As per new announcement, the shutdown will continue till 6:00am on Friday.
BNP joint office secretary Salauddin Ahmed disclosed the alliance decision through a statement on the day.
On February 6, the alliance called the fresh 72-hour shutdown, protesting the killing and arrests of the alliance men and demanding the restoration of democracy and voting rights.
This fresh shutdown came after a series of hartals by the alliance throughout last week, followed by a two-day break during the weekend.
** Hartal extended till 6am Friday
