SAVAR (DHAKA): Birulia Union Parishad Chairman Haji Mahmudul Hasan Alal, also BNP Savar thana unit president, was detained on Tuesday.

Sources said Savar Model Thana police nabbed him from a house in Birulia at noon on charge of killing people over setting fire to vehicles during hartal and blockade.

Respective police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Motaleb Mia confirmed matter to banglanews.

He said that Alal was a fugitive of several cases filed with Savar Model Thana for arson during BNP sponsored ongoing strike across the country.
