A case has been filed against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for allegedly patronizing and supporting anti-sculpture remarks made by the leaders of different Islamic political parties.
Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddique filed the case with the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder on Wednesday morning.
The court recorded the plaintiff's statements and kept it pending for order.
Apart from Khaleda, Tarique and Mirza Fakhrul, Hefazat-e-Islam's acting Amir Junaid Ahmed Babunagri, Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis's acting secretary general Muhammad Mamunul Haque and Islami Shashantantra Andolon’s Syed Faizul Karim were accused in the case for making derogatory speech against the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahamn.
In the case, charges have been brought against them under sections 500/506/427/109 of the Penal Code.
