A case has been filed against 36 people, including the Hefazat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque, over the death of Islamist organization’s former Amir Shah Ahmad Shafi.

Shafi's brother-in-law Md Mainuddin Ruhi lodged the case with the court of Chattogram Judicial Magistrate Shuiblu Kumar Dey around 11:00 am on Thursday.

Plaintiff's lawyer Md Abu Hanif confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said: " The court accepted the case where a total of 36 persons including current GS Mamunul Haque have been accused of murdering former Amir Shafi. The court asked Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to conduct the probe and submit report within a month."
